Classic Tiny will be missed. But look at the current Tiny. AH!!!! Radical Ent. turned an awesome video game boss that scared me shit less as a kid, into a gay Mike Tyson. Give it up Radical Ent. You know you guys suck.
I dunno, truthfully all the characters went through a redesign both in design and personality. I think Tiny was redesigned to connect with the Mike Tyson parody they had converted him into. I'm not really sure why they made it out of Tiny, rather than making a new character or making such out of another less developed character (Koala Kong could have used development rather than changing a character that already has a personality).
Probably for the former, yes. I forgot about making designs for the Aku Uka brothers though, whoops. I'll likely get round to them soon after though (if not it's likely Ripper Roo and Fake Crash afterwards). I might also make something special for Xmas.
Yeah, the original Tiny is for the win I don't care what anyone says, he'll always be of this design in my works. And will be a Thylacine, so there, fanboys lol. And he was funny as he was before, he didn't need to turn 'smart' and look like something from furaffinity. He was already a decent character as he was to me, especially in CNK.
Anyway, great Tiny wallpaper though he looks kinda cute in your style, and well drawn as well! Nice work!
It's a real shame what they did to Tiny, as I may have accepted the new designs otherwise. Crash and Cortex at least looked and acted somewhat like their former selves and even Crunch was fixed slightly (Mr T jibberish de-enthasised, now just make him talk at normal speed ). Tiny however, seemed almost like a deliberate move to tick off fans. They even had his CNK VA voice Uka Uka.
I'm glad you like it. I'm not as good at muscled characters so I was worried it looked a little off model.
slighty fixed? I don't think so (maybe for the Mr T idiocity lol) he's 10 times weaker now, gets kidnapped by Tiny too, and Coco and Crash doesn't really like him neither (especially Coco) from what some fans told me. They're just making him worse I think they're doing it on purpose too, but I don't care I'll still continue with my OB stuff, despite how awful things are now XD (to me of course) but yeah, the new Tiny makeover though is the biggest change of any of the characters, I think.
Kidnapped by Tiny? Maybe that's another version (I have the main console version). The best reference I can get of any possible hatred is Coco stating 'he smells like bacon' after hugging them.
I think the biggest problem is that Radical can't take the series seriously. They cram as much silly humour as possible, even if it means making every character look uncharacteristically ditzy and wacky. Granted the Crash series has never really been serious or poignant (I'd hate to see it go the same way as Sonic and Jak with dark 'mature' storylines, characters dying and swearing and what not) but there was at least an element of sensible characterisation that held the story together. Ratchet and Clank and the first Jak and Daxter may also be good examples for Radical to follow.
Oh yeah, my friend said that happens in the DS version. And someone said something about Coco saying "oh no! you can't dertroy Wumpa island! Our stuff are there!!!! Oh and crunch but OUR STUFF!" so yeah, they've pretty much ruined the 'trio' to me, and almost everything else (to me of course, I'm not saying everyone thinks the same as me).
Yeah I know, they think the series must be funny and such, and they seem to be trying everything possible to make it 'cooler' like, fixing something that wasn't broken. Which is why I've just ditched the games now but I still enjoy drawing stuff related to it.
Crash and Nina's modifications were OK as they were mainly just silent protaganists to begin with (I definately think Nina's new personality fits better than none at all). Crash fits his normal character, 'goofy yet heroic'. I think they should tone down the 'babble' though, it sounds a bit stupid after a while. Maybe give him back his trademark 'woah'.
Oh yeah, I forgot that comment was in the console version too. I could attribute that more to Coco's increasingly ditzy personality rather than hatred though (she makes a similar comment upon Wumpa Island's supposed destruction). It's a shame as she had a sweet personality before (there needs to be at least one 'normal' character). The only change that wasn't for the worse was perhaps her more depthful interaction with her brother.
Tiny was perhaps the only change that wasn't ignorable, but keep in mind it is further enthasised by the fact it is likely irreversible. They probably can't go back to normal Tiny now even if they wanted to, so we're stuck with......that.
If I had my own way, I'd go back to the original, or at the very least the aforementioned Nitro Kart version of Tiny. He's no good as a tiger (Titans), or a thylacine (Twinsanity) if you ask me, as he just looks awkward in both cases. His older design was sort of a cross between the two species and that suited him, even though I always think of him as a normal tiger (and no, I'm not saying this to spite you Tani. I just went by my own logic...and the fact he was simply named as 'Tiger'.
Basically, the Nitro Kart Tiny had everything Tiny needed, IMHO...the right design, the right personality and mildly dumb without being rediculous (in that he doesn't speak in the third person all the time). All he needed was some stripes. Maybe keep the lisp...that was one bit that DID grow on me.
Well, your friend isn't telling the truth I'm afraid. Crunch isn't even IN the DS version. The role your friend was thinking of was the GBA version, which is almost universally rubbish. Seriously, it is rubbish. According to every review I've read about it. Crash, instead of doing his babble thing, actually speaks proper sentences.
Apparantly, the DS version of the game is much better, although Tiny's voice in this version is much higher and almost girl like (he was voiced by Nolan North in this version).
But seriously, the console version is so much better. The only characters who retain their TTR personality makeovers are Crash and Nina, (which is fortunate, as they had fairly good ones) and even then Crash's has been modified slightly...he's much nicer and kinder than in TTR. Honestly, the only character who doesn't act right at all is Tiny. That's it. He's the ONLY character in that game that has something wrong with him.
Oh, and just for the record...Radical only made the console versions of Titans. "Amaze Entertainment" made the DS and GBA versions (and I believe they were different sections), so if you want to blame anyone for making Crunch weak, blame Amaze. I understand if you don't like what Radical is doing, but don't blame them for things they didn't do...I know that isn't like you.
Ah so it was the GBA one. And well, I didn't know there were other developers making those CotT games because I don't pay attention to them (like I said, I dropped the series since my announcement)
And I don't need any 'good points' about CotT ok? I hate what has happened (character/story wise), and wont be changing my mind anytime soon. every time I hear about something from that game, it makes me cringe. Though some of my friends like the gameplay though, but that doesn't change my thoughts towards the unnecessary changes. That's why I've chosen to just stay out of it, and I'm happy with my decision I don't need CotT to be a Crunch fan, I don't need it to continue with what I enjoy drawing and animating.
Like I said on YouTube, that's fine, I just didn't want your friends to be continually giving you the wrong idea about the game, and telling you things about it that were not true just to intencify your hatrid to it, such as telling you that all the characters are ruined and that the game is pathetically easy, when only Tiny fits that bill and it certainly ISN'T. I'll tell you now, so you know, Uka Uka is difficult even on easy.
And sorry if I sounded mean but yeah, it's cos some of the CotT fans have been giving me shit lately (just for not agreeing with them, or liking the game) and now I just can't be bothered playing nice anymore. So yeah, sometimes I might say something kinda harsh about it, but I never say others have to agree with me, I just it's my thought and my choice.
I'd have been happy if he'd at least had the deep rumbling voice from the previous games and the limited vocabulary (It's not like he hasn't spoken outside the third person before...he did in the intro for Nitro Kart, which, for me, was Tiny's best design...but the use of the words he used was somewhat rediculous). Even so, he still looks too much like a tiger. Ironically, that was the same problem in Twinsanity...he looked too much like a thylacine. His older design, which looked like a mixture between the two, was better (and whilst I do like the idea of the games trying to confirm his true species, the opposing views don't go very well. As it stands, I consider him a tiger as he acts more like one).
But, rants about unrelated issues aside, nice artwork.
According to the original Crash website (the same one that confirms Tawna to have dumped Crash for Pinstripe and Cortex to have been bred by a family of circus clowns) Tiny is a 'mutated cat'.
CNK probably was Tiny's best appearance, he was fair more expressive and developed in personality (his interaction with his master being perhaps the best example). It's a real shame Vicarious Visions lost the rights to the Crash series as they probably did the best job following the Naughty Dog concepts. TT and Radical have too much of a zany approach and Dimps, er, just didn't translate very well.
Many defend the change in Tiny's character because the original was 'cardboard'. Well, let's look at Titans Tiny. He is a parody of Mike Tyson, or perhaps more directly, of Drederick Tatum of The Simpsons, so in basic terms he is a parody of a parody (similar to the Jerry Lewis/ Professor Frink Raticians). Yeah, much better. I fail to see how stupidity equals cardboard anyway, if it is basically most of the legendary cartoon characters we've had in the past are in fact duds. 'Well, golly, I kinda liked most of them, but I guess if someones says they are bad, I must hate them now'. In all fairness, Crash was as underdeveloped as Tiny was in the original games, and they still managed to bring life into him without changing his character completely, meanwhile we have this high pitched cat who is apologising and later even begging for his life to the same individual he has constantly vowed to 'smash'. He may have been a decent character, but not for one that already exists (I'm still kinda hoping that at some point they'll reveal the new Tiny to be separate and 'Tiny 1.0' will suddenly pop out in full form).
As for species, well, can you really connect Sonic to a hedgehog that much? Heck, look at Crash himself (though the little fox that is almost devoured by a Titan may be a reference to the bandicoot's species confusion).
Yeah, I'm not brilliant at muscles, so it does kinda look like the arms are dislocated in several places. This was pretty much the best I could do though, I seriously have several versions of this with disorientated blobs for arms.
Kinda ironic about the loincloth, after looking at pics of him I was planning to change it.
